Congratulations are in order to two of the newest Mexican Women’s National Team U20 recruits. Jazmin Aguas (19) Midfield and Jasmine Cornejo (18) Striker, of team Norwalk Elite – Norwalk Women’s Soccer League have been chosen to play for the rising team and are the first to be scouted from Norwalk Elite- a team composed of Norwalk Women’s Soccer Leagues All Star players. Coaches Jay Yanez, Omar Lopez and Rogelio Yanez are optimistic their players will serve as positive assets to the Mexican Women’s National U20 and will continue to train Aguas and Cornejo as they play on a national level.
An accomplishment of this size could not have been achieved alone, both young ladies stated the following:
Jazmin Aguas: I’d like to thank my parents and brothers for their support and love, my best friend Monica for always looking out for me my coaches Jay, Omar, Ruben, Pavel and Barrera and the Federacion for helping me with this process and my teammates for always having my back. So far my experience here with the national team is unexplainable to do what you love the most and representing your country at the same time gives you that feeling that you’re doing something right but the best feeling thought out my experience here was stepping in to that field with that jersey I can honestly say I fell in love with soccer and my country all over again it was simply beautiful. Don’t ever stop chasing after what you want cause you don’t know what can happen and once your there don’t stop keep striving for more just like I am getting this opportunity anybody else can to.
Jasmine Cornejo: I got scouted in Tijuana when we went out there for a tournament. Then I got called to go to Mexico City through my coaches Jay and Omar where it became official. I play for Norwalk Elite and I want to thank my Family for believing in me and my supporting me especially my mom without her support I wouldn’t have done it. Being with the Mexico National team is a whole different level, we work on more specific tactics during practice and the training is good.
