Francisco Palencia Visits the Norwalk Youth Soccer League

Norwalk Youth Soccer League recently had a special visitor. Francisco Palencia, the legendary Striker currently playing for Pumas UNAM hung out with the kids, giving them tips on better playing and spending time answering the eager fans’ questions.

Palencia made his mark in 1996 as part of the Mexican national football team during the U.S. Cup Tournament in which he scored the winning goal against Bolivia. He went on to represent Mexico at the 1996 Summer Olympic in Atlanta along with helping to claim victory for the Mexican team at numerous Gold Cup tournaments.

“I was really happy to be able to talk with a great player like Francisco” said 13 year old Kris Zalameda. He and his friends were all smiles as the young athletes gathered around Mr. Palencia for a photograph.
